Urban College of Boston Appoints New Vice President of External Affairs and Strategic Partnerships

Boston, Massachusetts – Urban College of Boston is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. José Colón-Rivas as the new Vice President of External Affairs and Strategic Partnerships. In this role, Dr. Colón-Rivas will lead the institution's efforts to strengthen relationships with external stakeholders and develop strategic partnerships to enhance educational opportunities and community engagement.

With over 30 years of experience in education, Dr. Colón-Rivas brings a wealth of expertise in areas such as strategic planning, public relations, and government relations. His credentials include a Ph.D. from Penn State University in Curriculum and Instruction and Early Childhood Education, a master's degree in School Administration/Supervision and Curriculum Development, and a bachelor's degree in Science and Mathematics from the University of Puerto Rico.

During his tenure at Urban College of Boston, Dr. Colón-Rivas has cultivated solid and trusting partnerships through exceptional relationship-building skills. Utilizing positive energy and strong interpersonal abilities, he has garnered trust among employees and the community. A central initiative dear to Dr. Colón-Rivas' mission is expanding access to higher education opportunities for community members, aimed at enhancing their skills and establishing career pathways for economic success.

He has spearheaded the development of multiple pathways in early childhood education programs, leading to industry-recognized credentials. These education pathways empower students to work in the industry while earning their degrees, and partnerships with 4-year institutions enable students to apply their credits toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
