Biographies

Joan Becker

Joan is the Board Chair of the Urban College Board of Trustees. Currently serving as a consultant for the Council for Opportunity in Education and University of Massachusetts Boston, Joan has extensive higher education administration and leadership experience. In her role as Vice Provost for Academic Support Services and Undergraduate Studies at University of Massachusetts, she provided leadership and administrative oversight for Undergraduate Studies, the University Advising Center, Academic Support Programs, Career Services and Internships, the Ross Center for Disability Services, Global Programs, and Pre-collegiate and Educational Support Programs, including planning, management, and program evaluation. Joan has an EdD and an EdM from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College.

Adzele Benoit

Adzele serves as a Public Health Specialist/ Technical Assistant Liaison with Baystate Community Services. Prior to serving in that role, she served as a Project Coordinator for the Institute for Health and Recovery and had worked as a Youth Specialist and an in-home therapist for youth and young adults. She has been a faculty member at UCB since 2019. She has an MSW and a BSW from Wheelock College, and an associate degree from Urban College.

Barbara Brittingham

Barbara is President Emerita of the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), which accredits over 200 colleges and universities in the six New England States and eleven American-style institutions abroad. Previously she served as a member and chair of the Commission. Earlier she served as Dean and Professor at the University of Rhode Island. Currently she serves on the Board of the National Student Clearinghouse, the Board of Trustees of Wheaton College (MA), an advisor to the Transformational Partnerships Fund and to Engage-AI, and as a Senior Consultant to the National Center for Higher Education Management Systems (NCHEMS). She has worked with ministries and universities in over twenty-five countries, sponsored by the Fulbright Commission, the U.S. State Department, the World Bank, and local governments and universities

 

Peter Ebb

Peter is a retired partner from the law firm of Ropes & Gray, where he specialized in Labor & Employment litigation and counseling, as well as Education Law and Public Law. He was a practice group leader for 11 years and served as a member and chair of the firm’s Conflict of Interest Committee. Prior to joining Ropes & Gray, Peter worked in public service as a law clerk for the Hon. Herbert P. Wilkins of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, research director for the Massachusetts Legislature’s Joint Committee on Public Service, and as a Legislative Aide to a state senator. Peter has a J.D. from the Boston University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from Harvard College. Peter was Chair of the Urban College Board of Trustees from 2012-2024.

Jan Wyatt, Ph.D

Dr. Jan Wyatt joins the Board with a distinguished background in educational leadership.
Over his eighteen-year career in higher education, Jan has held roles such as Associate Professor, Department Chair, Academic Dean, Vice Provost, Executive Director, Associate Vice President, and Vice President of Academic Programs (VPAP).
Currently, as VPAP at SNHU, he leads the Academic Programs teams to deliver high-quality programs nationwide.
Previously, he spearheaded academic processes for efficiency and effectiveness, supported regional and programmatic accreditation efforts, and developed the award-winning Higher Education and Real-World Training (HEaRT) and Nursing Credentialing Center initiatives.
At other institutions, Jan has managed academic programs, faculty, student learning experiences, curriculum development, accreditation, strategic planning, and budget management. Jan holds a Ph.D. in Organization and Management (Capella University), an M.B.A. (SNHU), an M.S. in Higher Education Administration (Kaplan University), and a B.S. in Marketing (Florida International University). He has completed leadership training at Harvard Law and UC Berkeley Online.

Ken Lee

As Chief Financial Officer of Southern New Hampshire University, Ken Lee oversees finance and accounting, financial planning and analysis, treasury, tax, internal controls, procurement, capital projects and facilities management functions. Ken previously served as the Chief Financial Officer of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay from 2015 until 2018, where he oversaw finance and accounting, human resources, information technology, facilities, and procurement. Ken was the Vice President of Global Business Services and Transformation at Avery Dennison from 2011 until 2015, where he led transformation efforts across finance, human resources, information technology and indirect procurement. He was a Partner at A.T. Kearney, a global management consulting firm, from 1994 to 2011, specializing in organizational and functional transformation and effectiveness. Ken holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Harvard University and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.

 

Amelia Manning

Amelia started at SNHU in 2004 and has been the Chief Operating Officer of the institution since October 2017. Amelia’s role is to ensure that the organization delivers upon both its vision and mission by advancing strategy through execution. Her team includes Academics, Student Advisement, Business Strategy and Global Operations. Amelia has a bachelor’s degree from Saint Michael’s College in Vermont and a master’s degree from University of New Hampshire.

Mark A. Ouellette

Mark is consulting at Pitney Bowes where he was previously the Senior Vice President of Global Sales Operations. Pitney Bowes is a global technology company that powers billions of transactions – physical and digital – in the connected and borderless world of commerce. Mark has served on SNHU’s Board since 1997, serving as Board Chair since 2015. In addition to his role as Secretary on the Board of the United Way of Western Connecticut, he is also a Board member at Prosperi-Key, as well as the Center for Communities in Danbury, CT.

Sharon Scott-Chandler

President and CEO of ABCD since June 30, 2022, Sharon had previously served as Executive Vice President/COO. Prior to serving as ABCD’s EVP/COO, Scott-Chandler was Vice President of ABCD Head Start and Children’s Services. Sharon also directed ABCD’s Child Care Choices of Boston (CCCB), the designated Child Care Resource and Referral Agency (CCRRA) in Greater Boston communities. Prior to joining ABCD, Sharon served as an Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, an associate at a large Boston law firm, and a legislative aide to U.S. Congressman Sidney Yates. Sharon received her law degree from Northeastern University Law School and an undergraduate degree from Tufts University.

 

Constanza Cabello, ED.D.

Dr. Constanza Cabello is a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) leader passionate about developing equitable organizational cultures and communities. With foundations in leadership, facilitation, and counseling, she has spent her career working to advance DEI in her community and workplace.
She currently serves as the Managing Director of the Global Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (GIDE) team at State Street Corporation.
Before working in financial services, Connie was a senior diversity and community engagement officer in higher education, where she served in both administrative and teaching capacities on campus. Dr. Cabello also founded her own DEI practice, Cabello Consulting LLC, in 2011.

She is a dedicated change agent with demonstrated success implementing DEI strategy, achieving goals, and producing results in corporate and educational settings.
Connie holds a Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership Studies from Northeastern University, a Master of Science in Counseling from Central Connecticut State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Social Policy and Planning from the University of Connecticut. Her publications and research concern the intersections of racial equity, leadership, and education.

Megan Stevens

Megan A. Stevens, originally from Indianapolis, IN, is a senior leader with over ten years of experience. After graduating from Ball State University, she developed an intense devotion to the nonprofit sector and the importance of championing educational equity.  In 2014, She founded Always Making Progress (AMP), Inc. Through AMP, Megan had the privilege and opportunity to impact the lives of over 350 students through programming that teaches academic enrichment and entrepreneurship. Throughout her tenure in nonprofit/program management, business development, and community engagement, she successfully diversified program offerings and generated revenue increases annually for nonprofit organizations and in EdTech.

Megan served on the Out In Tech Indianapolis leadership team. As a DEI advocate and change agent, she co-founded the first ERG (employee resource group) for Black staff, BLAZE(Black Leaders Aspiring to Zealously Elevate), at Southern New Hampshire University. She received the 2019-2020 4.0 Schools Essentials Fellowship due to her work in the Indianapolis community. Megan currently serves on the board of directors for th|AIR|apy, an organization seeking to connect flight attendants of all airlines, domestic or international, with affordable or cost-free professional mental health services. Additionally, she serves on the board of Trustees for the Urban College of Boston. As the Director of Leadership Advancement at AnitaB.org, she leads the apprenticeship and workforce development programming that elevates gender equity and promotes pay parity in the tech industry. She continues to be a proponent of educational equity and supports learners in the tech and micro-credential education space. Lastly, Megan is pursuing her MBA in Leadership from SNHU, which she will complete in December 2025.
