Early Childhood Education Certificate

The Early Childhood Education (Preschool or Infant Toddler Focus) certificate program introduces students to the fundamentals of childhood, how children grow and learn, and best practices in the field of early childhood education. In addition, the Certificate offers students the opportunity to earn the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and can satisfy Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care requirements for certification as a Preschool or Infant/Toddler teacher.

There are 27 credits required to complete the Early Childhood Education certificate, including program concentration courses in:

  • Child Growth and Development

  • Observing, Recording & Assessing

  • Guidance and Discipline

  • The Exceptional Child

  • Early Childhood Curriculum OR Infant/Toddler Curriculum

Interested in an associate or bachelor’s degree? All courses in the certificate program will transfer into the corresponding associate degree program at Urban College of Boston. In addition, transfer agreements with other colleges allow students to continue their education.
