Apply for Early Education and Care (EEC) Professional Qualifications Certification

If you want to work in a Group or School Age Child Care program licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC), as either a Teacher, Lead Teacher, or Director, you need a Professional Qualification Certification from EEC. UCB can help students apply for EEC Professional Qualifications Certification.

Create and Update a Professional Qualifications (PQ) Registry Profile

The Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) requires educators working in programs serving children from birth through school age to create and maintain an individual educator profile in the PQ Registry. This individual profile includes important information about your education and work experience in the field. UCB can help students create and update their PQ Registry profile.

Register and Complete EEC Essentials Training in the StrongStart Online PDS

The StrongStart Online PDS is a learning management system that houses mandatory and supplemental training for early education and care program staff and can record staff completion of professional development coursework. Included in the StrongStart Online PDS is a new "EEC Essentials" training comprised of 12 modules on topics that early education staff need to know about, such as health, safety, and child development. UCB can assist students seeking to register for EEC Essentials Training in the StrongStart Online PDS.

Add the QRIS Application for Family Child Care programs to your PQ Registry Profile

The Quality Rating and Improvement System Program Manager helps programs manage the QRIS application process. It allows your program to complete self-assessments and apply online for your rating. It can also verify professional qualifications in the Professional Qualifications Registry (PQR). UCB can assist you in adding the EEC-FCC QRIS Application to their PQ.

Apply for the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential

Offered by the Council for Professional Recognition, the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential is the most widely recognized credential in early childhood education (ECE) and is a key stepping-stone on the path of career advancement in ECE. The Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential is based on a core set of competency standards, which guide early care professionals as they work toward becoming qualified teachers of young children. UCB will assist students who have taken UCB’s CDA course apply for their CDA.

Prepare for a Job Search

Whether you are actively searching for a job or want to be prepared for a future job search, it is important to have an updated resume, understand how to write an effective cover letter, and keep an active list of references. UCB staff can help you develop or edit a resume, review cover letters, or talk through your career goals.

Strengthen Technology Skills through Tech Goes Home

Periodically throughout the academic year, UCB offers Tech Goes Home courses, which involve 15 hours of digital skills training conducted by a TGH-trained staff member from UCB. Upon completion of TGH, participants have the option of purchasing a new computer for $50 and we help them sign up for low-cost Internet access. UCB provides TGH training only to UCB students.
