NEW COURSE IN FOOD SCIENCES: Healthy and Safe Cooking

OFFERED BY THE URBAN COLLEGE OF BOSTON

in collaboration with THE HALEY HOUSE !!

 

Learn healthy, safe and nutritious cooking at the Haley House Bakery & Café in Dudley Square using a “hands-on” approach with master chef Didi Emmons.

This class will offer the practical application of the scientific principles underlying safe sanitation practices focusing on preventing food contamination and acquiring information about the physical, chemical and biological hazards associated with food borne illness.

Students will use safe food handling practices and learn cooking techniques for feeding children, teens and adults with special dietary needs such as those with health conditions like diabetes or asthma, and children and others who must follow low salt, gluten free & other diets.

Ethnic cooking, cooking on a budget, and preparing foods for children

are some of the topics that will be covered and applied to each class.

Classes will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from

6:00-9:00pm, June 2 through July 23.

This course is required for the Food Safety and Nutrition certificate.

It is also a great elective or enrichment course for all students. ONLY 12 SEATS AVAILABLE!

Cook and eat your dinner in each class!
