Urban College’s Dedicated Faculty Urban College's uniqueness is due, in large part, to outstanding and dedicated faculty and staff members whose commitment to the UCB mission and support of the UCB student is unwavering. Our staff, as well as full-time and adjunct faculty, reflect the racial, linguistic, and ethnic diversity of the UCB student population. The dedicated, committed UCB faculty and staff have a special appreciation for the experiences of the inner city and immigrant student. They recognize the complex and busy lives our students lead and respect the many obstacles our students have overcome. In addition, UCB faculty and staff have both the ability and sensitivity to understand the uniqueness of each student. Holding advanced degrees, including 20% who have doctorates, UCB faculty members demonstrate high levels of academic expertise in their subject area. Their practical experience in a variety of fields and their understanding of the nontraditional adult learner account for much of the success of the UCB student. The UCB small class-size and comfortable environment is conducive to allowing students the opportunity to get to know their peers and instructors. Student participation encourages learning in a safe and supportive setting. Of equal importance, UCB faculty and staff are dedicated to supporting and advising students while maintaining high academic standards.
