Urban College of Boston Commencement

UCB’s commencement is a day brimming with joy, celebration, and community. After kicking off with a procession from UCB’s campus at 2 Boylston Street to Emerson’s Cutler Majestic Theatre, led by bagpipers and a Boston police escort, UCB’s commencement includes student speakers, honorary degree recipients, college awards, and the presentation of certificates and degrees. There are typically 1,100 people in attendance, including graduates, their family and friends, the Board of Trustees, UCB faculty and staff, elected officials, representatives of non-profit organizations, and other honored guests.

This year is UCB’s 25th Commencement and Massachusetts Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development Rosalin Acosta will be the commencement speaker. Mayor Walsh typically attends the ceremony as well and presents a scholarship named after his mother and late father to a graduate to support their pursuit of a bachelor’s degree.

As shown in this video clip (http://bit.ly/UCB2019-video) and this Boston Globe article (http://bit.ly/UCB2019-globe-article), UCB’s Commencement is a deeply moving occasion.
