   New students should plan on arriving by 6:00 p.m.; at least one hour will be needed to complete the registration process.

Late Registration (for all students)

   A $10.00 late registration fee will be charged.

TUITION AND FEES

Tuition

●     Tuition:  $166.00 per credit. (A 3-credit course is $498.00.)

Fees

●     Application Fee of $10.00 must accompany each

            application as a degree candidate.

●     Student Activity Fee is $10.00 per semester.

 

PAYMENT AND REFUND POLICY

 

Methods of Payment

The Urban College of Boston accepts cash, checks, money orders, Visa or MasterCard.  Checks should be made payable to the Urban College of Boston

 

ABCD Employees

ABCD employees who wish to use the Payroll Deduction Plan must have a minimum payment of 10% of the total tuition and fees deducted weekly from their paycheck.

 

Returned Checks

A $25.00 charge will be added to any check returned by the bank to the Urban College of Boston.

 

Refund Policy

Students who officially withdraw from classes taught by UCB faculty in accordance with published withdrawal procedures may obtain refunds of tuition as follows:

           Withdrawal before the first class      100%

           Withdrawal before the second class                    75%

           Withdrawal before the third class        50%

           Withdrawal before the fourth class      25%

           Withdrawal after the fourth class           0%

All money will be refunded to the original source of funds.  Fees are non-refundable.

 

Add/Drop Policy

Students who want to add or drop courses may do so prior to the second week of classes.  See current catalog for more information.

In order to add or drop courses, students must consult with their academic advisor and bring a signed form to the Enrollment Services Office.  Add/Drops will not be permitted after the second class of the semester.                            

 

WHAT IS THE URBAN COLLEGE OF BOSTON

 

   The Urban College of Boston (UCB) is an independent, co-educational two-year institution.  It is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Boston.  UCB is a partner with Action for Boston Community Development, Inc. STUDENT SERVICES

   UCB offers many services designed to support student effort, help overcome problems interfering with student progress, and be a referral source to community organizations.

  Students are encouraged to utilize the personal, academic, and professional counseling resources of Student Services.  Strict confidentiality is maintained at all times.  In addition, Student Services sponsors student workshops and career guidance, a continuous process that includes academic and professional assessment at entry to UCB, career-related course work, required Professional Development seminars, and internships and field work.  The UCB newsletter provides information to the UCB community. 

   At registration, students are designated an academic advisor.  The student and advisor meet regularly to review and discuss the student’s goals.  The advisor recommends course selection and sequence and remains a key source of guidance.  Each student also has access to staff assisting with matters of financial aid, internships, personal counseling, and referrals to other organizations.  Through the support offered at the Urban College of Boston, students learn strategies and techniques necessary to secure professional, personal, and educational success.

FINANCIAL AID

 

Students who are interested in applying for financial aid for the 2009-2010 academic year should have a completed financial aid application on file at Urban College.  The deadline for priority consideration is December 10, 2009.  Federal Pell Grants and Supplemental Education Opportunity Grants (SEOG) fund part-time and full-time students.  The Mass Grant funds full-time students and Mass Part-time Grants fund part-time students.  These grants do not have to be repaid.  Applicants will need their 2008 Federal income tax returns, a high school diploma or GED Certificate as well as enrollment in Urban College of Boston’s Degree or Certificate programs.  Apply on-line (on the web) at www.fafsa.ed.gov or call (617) 348-6220 for more information.  The Urban College of Boston’s School Code for FAFSA forms is 031305.

HEALTH INSURANCE REQUIREMENT

 

If you do not have health insurance and you are registering for 9 or more credits, State law requires that you sign up for health insurance offered by the college, and complete the Insurance Waiver Card.  Proof of Health Insurance coverage is required  at registration.
